Professor of Management Ronald Purser discussed corporate wellness programs and how these programs do not improve actual workplace conditions for employees in a news article published in the Los Angeles Times.

Purser stated that while many companies organize special self-care programs for their employees, "corporate wellness programs can take the responsibility off the employer to do anything about the actual workplace conditions." As an example, Amazon has a WorkingWell program that involves a few minutes of meditation among its employees. Purser believes these wellness programs have a hidden ideology and commented, "It's the individual employee who needs to adapt to these toxic, unfair or dangerous working conditions."
