Beckman awarded the SF State 2023 Excellence in Teaching Award for Tenured Faculty

Information Systems Professor Paul Beckman was honored with the SF State 2023 Excellence in Teaching Award for Tenured Faculty, which is one of the University's annual Distinguished Faculty and Staff Awards. 

The awards come with a $4,000 stipend provided by the SF State Foundation Board of Directors, a plaque honoring the recipient's achievement, and their photo added to those of past award winners. An in-person celebration of their accomplishments was held at the Academic Senate's final meeting of the academic year.

 This year’s awardees also included the following distinguished faculty and staff:

  • Excellence in Teaching (Lecturer Faculty): Mohammad HajiAboli, Electrical/Computer Engineering, College of Science & Engineering
  • Excellence in Professional Achievement (Tenured Faculty): Dianthe (Dee) Spencer, School of Theatre & Dance-Music, College of Liberal & Creative Arts                                                     
  • Excellence in Service (Tenured Faculty): Nancy Gerber, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Science & Engineering
  • Excellence in Service (Staff): Phonita Yuen, Metro College Success Program, College of Ethnic Studies 

The Faculty and Staff Awards Committee, which manages the nomination and selection processes, was chaired by Leia B. Bagesteiro.
