Position Description:
Larsen Associates is a boutique San Francisco PR firm specializing in publicity and promotions for films, festivals and events – primarily in the SF/Bay Area region, but occasionally national and international in scope. Our clients include but are not limited to National Geographic, HBO, MTV, Magnolia Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Mill Valley Film Festival, CAAM Film Festival, Indiefest, and more.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, highly organized individual to join our team as an intern. This position, currently a hybrid of in-person and remote work, is an integral part of a small team in a fast-paced South of Market office in San Francisco.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare and email promotional materials.
- Keep and update publicity reports and interview schedules.
- Monitor media for press coverage and email to clients.
- Post appropriate items on the Larsen Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Provide support at special events, screenings, and on press days with talent.
- Assist with office space maintenance.
- Assist in the writing and formatting of publicity/marketing materials (press releases, public service announcements, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
- Experience or knowledge of and love for film, especially independent, documentary, and foreign-language films.
- Good computer skills and Mac literate. Knowledge of Mailchimp is helpful but not required.
- Familiar with social media such as Facebook and Instagram.
- Self-motivated; direct, extroverted personality; creative, free-thinking; action-oriented, strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate should have excellent organizational skills and be able to work independently, problem-solve, and manage to change schedules. The position requires excellent writing, verbal and people skills, as well as gracious phone and email manners.
