
The Position
The City of San Bruno is searching for part-time temporary Food Services Special Assistants to work up to 16 hours per week. This position will be assisting the Community Services Department in the food preparation for the Senior Center meal delivery service. This position will assist the Food Services Coordinator with food preparation, cooking and cleaning.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate possesses the knowledge and experience of food preparation and cooking. Knowledge of proper and safe methods of preparation and cooking of large food quantities; food nutritional values and proper dietary combinations; proper use of knives, scissors and other cooking tools; kitchen sanitation and methods of cleaning, care of kitchen equipment; occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ideal candidate is an individual who can follow recipes for food preparation; assist in planning and organizing menus, food preparation and serving operation to meet a fixed schedule; assist in maintaining proper inventory records of supplies; prepare required quantities with minimum waste; follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; get along with others; keep simple records.

This is a part-time/temporary position with the City of San Bruno. As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position works a maximum of 16 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.
