The Lam Family College of Business soft-launched the new Business Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub in April 2026 as a new platform for applied, responsible, and business-centered AI education. The Hub is designed to connect curriculum, student projects, faculty innovation, events, and external partnerships rather than treating AI as a disjointed collection of isolated workshops or tools.
The AI Hub supports the college's Minor in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Business Applications, the graduate Certificate in Ethical Artificial Intelligence, the STEM-designated MS in Business Analytics program, and AI-enabled coursework across Information Systems, Marketing, Finance, Management, Entrepreneurship, and related fields. One of its primary purposes is to give students meaningful experience building and evaluating AI-enabled business applications, analytics systems, retrieval-augmented generation workflows, decision-support tools, and prototypes that mirror real organizational use cases.
The AI Hub’s current configuration uses an air-gapped architecture: open models and supporting software run locally in an environment separated from external networks. This design creates a controlled setting in which students and faculty can explore AI workflows, model behavior, and local deployment while keeping the instructional environment focused on privacy, governance, and hands-on technical understanding. During our soft launch, the AI Hub was running open language-model families including Gemma, Llama, Phi, Mistral, and OLMo on Dell Pro Max systems powered by NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GB10. The software environment included user-facing tools, such as Open WebUI, LibreChat, and OpenNotebook, supported by local inference and serving options including Ollama, llama.cpp, and vLLM.
The AI Hub is run based on a student-centered operating principle: Its technology stack is intentionally flexible. Model, interface, and backend choices will be driven by what students need for curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular projects, rather than by allegiance to a single platform.
