The 2024 Impact Investing Days Conference will be co-hosted from Friday through Sunday, March 15-17, 2024, by the Center for Ethical & Sustainable Business and the Lam-Larsen Fintech Initiative at San Francisco State University.  This event is co-sponsored by the Copenhagen Business School.

This conference is designed for academics, impact investors, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, and policymakers to jointly discuss research needs and priorities for inquiry in relation to how impact investing can help address societal challenges. The event aims to support the formulation of a relevant research agenda that will help understand the effectiveness of impact investing as a tool to re-shape our society to be fairer, more inclusive, and more sustainable. This, in turn, is intended to guide investors towards implementing impactful investment strategies. The conference will offer plenty of opportunities for both formal discussions and informal discourse between participants.

This three-day conference will be held at the San Francisco State University Downtown Campus, located at 160 Spear St., 5th Floor, in San Francisco.

The Impact Investing Days conference was launched in 2018 by the Copenhagen Business School and has previously been hosted in Copenhagen, Beijing, and Barcelona.  This forum is a discussion forum for impact investing practitioners, social entrepreneurs, and academics. The conference aims to challenge current practice and encourages evidence-based research to develop better insights into the links between social/environmental impact, financial returns, and investment decisions. We intend for the Impact Investing Days to eventually result in a series of national and international research/practice co-operations to help understand the effectiveness of impact investing and social entrepreneurship.

Registration is required by March 14th. Conference fees apply.

Please visit the 2024 Impact Investing Days Conference website (external) for more information and to register for this event.

Are you considering a career in making the world a greener and better place, but are not yet sure how to get there? On March 3rd 2022 our four panelists (Sapna Dixit (MBA, ’10), Sara Fuentes, Ellie Read, Caroline Trowbridge) from Women in Cleantech and Sustainability shared how they established themselves professionally, discuss how to network to find and land that dream job, and answered your questions.   View the recording here.

Did you know:

  • By 2050 there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish?
  • Only 8% of plastic is recycled in the US?
  • While other materials may have higher recycling rates, inherently recycling involves a lot of energy (and resultant carbon emissions)?

In 2018 the EPA estimated that packaging accounted for approximately 30% of the US’s municipal solid waste, and the pandemic has only made things worse. Our Zoom panel in November 2021 featured four entrepreneurs, including PATHWATER executive VP Gulshan Kumar (B.A. '15), James Martin (Founder, EturnityApp), Paul Tasner (CEO, Pulpworks), Kumar Venkat (CTO, Planet forward) who are working to solve this problem. Learn how you can make a difference (and maybe make a living).  Watch the recording here.

In October 2021, CESB worked with the Emerging and Developing Economies Initiative to promote the event International Business Opportunities in Climate Tech & Sustainability.  Our speaker was Breaux Walker, an angel investor in Fintech with a passion for saving the planet.
