Denise Kleinrichert, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Director of the Center for Ethical and Sustainable Business (CESB), San Francisco State University

Denise is the director of the CESB and an associate professor of management/ethics. She teaches business undergraduate and graduate courses on the ethical, social and environmental aspects of business. She is the chair of SF State’s annual Business Ethics Week and she is a founding faculty member of the CESB High School Summer Sustainability Workshop. Her academic career focuses on teaching and publication in the areas of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, sustainable business practices, gender and social entrepreneurship, board director risk and transparency, and business education. She also has extensive corporate executive experience in the banking, hospital, and insurance industries. She has a Ph.D. and M.A. in philosophy, M.L.A. in social & political thought, and M.B.A. course work from the University of South Florida. She has a B.A. in economics from Indiana University.

Michael Burshteyn

CEO & Co-founder, CryptoMove

Michael Burshteyn is the CEO & Co-founder of CryptoMove, an early stage bay area-based data protection startup. CryptoMove protects data with decentralized moving target defense and is on the front lines of global Fortune 100 and federal agency innovation strategies around managing data security, compliance, and user privacy in distributed multi-cloud environments. Mike launched CryptoMove after years of stealth R&D and has secured rapid worldwide adoption as well as backing from venture capitalists such as Tim Draper, Social Capital, and the head of global security and privacy engineering at Google. Prior to launching CryptoMove, Mike was a cybercrime, intellectual property, data security, and privacy attorney at Perkins Coie, where he represented hypergrowth startups as well as technology giants such as Uber, Amazon, and Facebook on complex cybercrime and privacy compliance and litigation matters. Mike attended UC Berkeley for his undergraduate studies, where he led the debate team to the #1 national ranking and researched topics around privacy and cybersecurity. Mike has a JD from Emory Law School and was also a visiting student at Berkeley Law, where he worked on cybercrime issues for the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology's Samuelson Clinic and was an associate editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, researching and writing about issues around cryptocurrency and data security ethics and compliance.

Byron Chun

VP & Technology Manager, Wholesale Digital Experience Engineering Group, Wells Fargo

Byron Chun, a native of San Francisco, was recruited from California State Universities by Wells Fargo in 1997 to lead the design and implementation of the first Internet presence for Wholesale. The implementation paved the way to what later became the award winning CEO Portal, as well as a patent for remote check scanning and processing. His innovation does not stop with applications. His groundbreaking approach to building security into agile software design and secure software architectures has enabled Wells Fargo to grow rapidly while maintaining customer confidence in Wholesale products. Vendors and Universities such as Hewlett Packard and Stanford University have products and services that have benefited from the principles conceived by Byron. He currently heads the software security practices organization for Wells Fargo Wholesale. He values education, training, and mentoring and still maintains his education ties by volunteering as a mentor (using the Internet) to disadvantaged high school students in the Shawnee School District (Topeka, KS) as well as Fort Collins School District in the United States.

Dave Kuo

Head of Compliance, Privacy and Risk Management, SAP SuccessFactors

Dave Kuo (B.S. '92, Business Administration) joined the SAP SuccessFactors as the Head of Compliance, Privacy and Risk Management and is responsible for the Global Compliance and Privacy Program for the Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) solution service delivery. Dave is a senior IT and cybersecurity management executive with 25 years of experience in HCM implementation and information protection strategy development. Prior to SuccessFactors, Dave was with KPMG where he led the Compliance Readiness Services for Financial Services sector in North America. Prior to KPMG, Dave was with Accenture, where he led and developed the Data Protection and Privacy Services globally. Dave is a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA and Certified Information Privacy Professional for IT (CIPT).

John Owens

John Owens manages a professional services practice helping enterprise customers make the best use of cloud computing technologies, and is also a Lecturer in the Information Systems department at SF State. He has over twenty years of technology consulting experience, working in the US, Europe, and Asia with customers in the software, manufacturing, semiconductor, energy, financial, retail, hospitality, and other industries. Prior to consulting, he had over a dozen years of experience designing and developing embedded systems, and his code can still be found running on factory floors and in restaurants and hotels worldwide. He is co-inventor on two patents for home automation technology.

Horea Porutiu

Horea Porutiu is a Developer Advocate focused on ensuring developers' success on IBM Cloud. His hobby of investing led him to a career focused on blockchain. Horea is an active leader in the blockchain community and speaks at various community events about the Hyperledger project. Horea has been named a top writer for the leading tech blog site, Hacker Noon.

Julien Sobrier

Salesforce

Julien Sobrier has spent 10+ years in the Security industry, as a Security Researcher at Netscreen/Juniper and Zscaler, then Product Manager at Zscaler and now Product Security Owner at Salesforce. He as co-author Power Security Tools (O'Reilly) and released many browser security add-ons (BlackSheep, Zscaler Safe Shopping, Balckhat SEO prevention) including HTTPS Everywhere for Internet Explorer. Julien spoke at OWASP, SOURCE, AppSec, Les Assises de la Securite and other conferences.

Samer Verma, Ph.D.

Professor of Information Systems, San Francisco State University

Sameer Verma is professor of Information Systems at San Francisco State University. His research focuses on the diffusion and adoption of innovative technologies. He is currently working on several academic research projects that include the diffusion of open source software, sustainable IT in rural and remote environments, and the impact of offline networks. In addition to his academic work, Professor Verma has worked with companies in consulting capacity in the areas of content analysis, management and delivery. Professor Verma is on the Board of Directors of the Drupal Association. He serves on the advisory boards of WiRED International, The Center for Ethical and Sustainable Business, and San Francisco Bay Area technology companies. He is the founder of the Commons Initiative at SF State, the One Laptop per Child San Francisco community, the One Laptop per Child Jamaica community, and is an institutional partner at the Center of Excellence, University of the West Indies, Jamaica.

Hao Yue, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Computer Science, San Francisco State University

Hao Yue is an assistant professor in computer science department at San Francisco State University. His research focuses on Computer Networks, Cybersecurity, and CS education. He won the Best Paper Award at the 13th International Conference on Mobile Ad-hoc and Sensor Networks, and the Best Journal Paper Award of IEEE Technical Committee on Green Communications & Computing in 2018. He has also served on the Subcommittee on Technology & Infrastructure and the Subcommittee on Privacy & Governance of the San Francisco Blue Ribbon Panel on Municipal Fiber. He is the Vice Chair of IEEE San Francisco Section and the Chair of IEEE Communications Society San Francisco Chapter.
