Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Cybersecurity

The graduate certificate targets working professionals in for-profit and non-profit businesses who wish to expand their knowledge of cybersecurity. These individuals could be working in the field of information systems or other functional or service area of an organization. The curriculum is designed to help prepare individuals for jobs related to cybersecurity in for-profit and non-profit organizations.

Required Courses

Students need to complete the following three courses to earn the certificate:

  • ISYS 814: Information Systems for Strategic Advantage (3 units)
  • ISYS 865: Managing Enterprise Networks (3 units)
  • ISYS 875: Enterprise Cybersecurity Management (3 units)

Admissions Requirements

The certificate is available to individuals who have a 4-year bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA and basic knowledge of information systems provided by SF State’s ISYS 363 or BUS 782 course (or equivalent). All coursework required for the certificate must be completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and only courses completed with grades of C or better may be included to meet the certificate requirements.

Applying to the Certificate Program

We welcome applications from current matriculated San Francisco State University graduate students and non-matriculated post-baccalaureate domestic students interested in the study of Cybersecurity.

Current MBA, MSA or MSBA students are not required to apply for admissions into a graduate business certificate program. The requirements can be met while seeking the graduate business degree.

All other interested students must formally apply to the Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Information Systems through Cal State Apply (external link). Applicants are required to upload unofficial transcripts, a statement of interest, and current CV/résumé. Important: to apply for certificates, please go to your EXTENDED PROFILE and under DEGREE GOAL select CERTIFICATE, then choose "Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Cybersecurity" and SAVE.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with deadlines in May and October.
