Undergraduate Program

The International Business Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an International Business concentration. Students gain understanding of global aspects of business and focus on business areas of interest to them. Examples of such areas include export/import management; global creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation;  international HR; international business law; focus on specific regions; global supply chain logistics; cross-border business-government relations; corporate strategy formulation in a global organization, or international aspects of marketing as well as finance. A minor in International Business is also offered.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Concentration in International Business (IBUS)

Courses analyze the rapidly changing international environment, new management problems and associated strategies. An International Business graduate may begin their career working directly in international operations, for example, in the import-export field, as an international product manager, or as a global logistics manager. Alternatively, a graduate may start in a functional department of a firm and move into international operations as opportunities present themselves. Some graduates become international management consulting associates.

Students studying abroad in California State University International Programs or in an SFSU Exchange Program may develop special international business concentrations with adviser approval before going abroad. Students with specific educational or career objectives may develop special international business concentrations in consultation with an adviser.

All concentration courses must be taken on a letter grade basis. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all concentration courses.

Minor in International Business

The Minor programs are designed to provide undergraduates with a focused exposure to a particular area of business practice rather than the broad exposure of the General Business Minor. As such, they can provide professional and technical skills needed for entry into specialized business employment for non-business majors or serve as an alternative to a double major for business majors seeking to develop expertise in a second field.

For more information, see Bulletin: Minor in International Business.

Major Degree Roadmaps

A degree roadmap is a semester-by-semester guide to the course requirements necessary to complete a bachelor’s degree in a designated major. A roadmap is designed to help students select classes that satisfy General Education (GE) requirements, major requirements, other all-university requirements and to graduate in four years. The roadmap cannot replace consultation with an advisor in your major or an advisor in the Undergraduate Advising Center. You should always use your degree roadmap in conjunction with the Bulletin and your DARS report, ASE (if applicable), and transcript to select classes for an upcoming semester.
