Undergraduate Program

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Concentration in Accounting

The accounting concentration is designed to provide a solid foundation of accounting and business knowledge that prepares students for careers in accounting. Courses are structured to allow flexibility in preparing for a career path in public accounting, private industry, and government or nonprofit organizations. The program offers a wide variety of courses that can be used to qualify and prepare for examinations in professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, and CMA. Students should consult with an accounting advisor to determine minimum course requirements for these certifications. The accounting curriculum also provides the foundation for graduate study in business and accounting.

Students must complete 120 units and have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in the business major, the accounting concentration, and in all courses taken at SF State to earn the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.

Our Accounting program was ranked 5th among public universities for salary outcomes in the Wall Street Journal's (WSJ)  2023 “Best College for Your Dream Career in Accounting” ranking list (WSJ subscription required to read the article).

San Francisco State University Major Degree Roadmaps

A degree roadmap is a semester-by-semester guide to the course requirements necessary to complete a bachelor’s degree in a designated major. A roadmap is designed to help students select classes that satisfy General Education (GE), major, and other all-University degree requirements within four years. The roadmap cannot replace consultation with an advisor in your major or an advisor in the Undergraduate Advising Center. You should always use your degree roadmap in conjunction with the Bulletin and your Degree Progress Report report to select classes for an upcoming semester.
