Professor of Accounting Theresa Hammond spoke with Bloomberg News about changes to the CPA exam which critics say may further disadvantage first-generation, Black, and Hispanic college students.
Some students struggle to imagine what more they could accomplish when graduation from college is itself a major achievement, Hammond notes. "So to actually put themselves through the extra stress of the accounting major and then also to have the fifth year, that’s a bridge too far.”
