Professor of Management discusses student activism in the Los Angeles Times

Professor of Management John Sullivan shared his perspective on student-led protests of tech in the Bay Area. 

The tech industry is under scrutiny for its ties to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, causing many students to take an active stance against tech companies recruiting on their campuses. In reaction to a recent protest at UC Berkeley, Sullivan advises companies with controversial contracts to present the middle ground, being transparent about their controversial contracts while communicating the other fields they support. 

"The younger generation has learned you can ask for things," Sullivan says. "They're concerned about the environment, and concerned about ICE, so they're more socially conscious than they have been in a long time, and they've learned how to make it be heard."
