Professor John Logan interviewed by The Hill about tech's first white-collar unionization

Job Seeking in CityProfessor and Chair of Labor and Employment Studies John Logan commented on the recent white-collar unionization at Kickstarter - the first of its kind in tech. 

This week, employees at crowdfunding company Kickstarter unionized after a year of organizing - a historic first in the industry. Tech workers have increased efforts to push their employers to take stronger stances on political and ethical issues, which is what motivated employees at Kickstarter to unionize.

While union organizing has been a strategy traditionally used by blue-collar workers, this marks an important shift in the tech industry. “Tech employers, when it comes to union organizing, are perhaps not as different as was previously assumed," Logan says, "...really they’re just behaving in a way that is quite similar to most other private sector employers.”
