Professor and Chair of Labor and Employment Studies John Logan discussed the future of the labor movement and the impact of organizers at Amazon.
Logan was featured on The Rick Smith Show, The Labor and Working-Class History Association, and Japan's NHK News about the monumental union campaign at Amazon's Bessemer, Alabama warehouse this year.
Though the union drive ultimately ended in a "no" vote, Logan believes the organizers actually achieved several key wins for the labor movement - running the biggest union campaign in history against one of the world’s most powerful corporations, receiving support from a sitting president, and opening up the possibility for a real debate over working conditions in the United States. "The RWDSU drive at Amazon has provided this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," he says. "The entire labor movement should be grateful for its brave and audacious campaign."
