Professor of Economics Anoshua Chaudhuri was awarded the Eisman Award for Engaged Scholarship for her work with the SF Small Business Commission through a community-based participatory research project about COVID-19's impact on small business in San Francisco.
Awarded by the Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, the Eisman Award for Engaged Scholarship recognizes one university faculty member who is highly engaged in community-based scholarship collaborations that positively impact both the community and research/creative endeavors. The award recipient is granted $5,000 to fund a proposal for continued research.
Chaudhuri's work is in the second phase of implementation, and funds will be used to analyze data and help disseminate the research results, as well as continue the collaborative partnership with SF Small Business Commission to allow ongoing and future placement of SF State students in community service learning projects with this partner.
MBA student Manpreet Kaur assisted Chaudhuri with initial project, and MS in Quantitative Economics student Adam Young will work on the next phase.
