Economics Professor assists in California Coastal Conservancy study

Assistant Professor of Economics Philip King assisted in a study focused on the availability of affordable overnight accommodations along California's coast.

Along with John Christiensen, an assistant professor at UCLA's Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, King found that the cost of visiting the coast is becoming out of reach for anyone who makes less than the median household income. In order to combat this barrier to coastal access, the California Coastal Concervancy funded “Explore the Coast Overnight,” a program focused on further analyzing the issue and creating affordable options through grants.
