Economics Professor Emeritus Donald Mar featured on NBC News to discuss the economic and societal impacts of pandemic-related racism

Professor Emeritus Donald Mar's study with UCLA researchers focused on the societal repercussions of racializing COVID-19 and the pandemic's economic impacts on working Asian Americans. 

Mar reported that many Asian Americans work in sectors that have been heavily affected by the pandemic, with 1 in 4 working in hospitality and leisure, retail, and other services. Mar also noted that research from previous pandemics has pointed to a greater degree of struggle during and after the health crisis among minorities, households with lower incomes, and other disadvantaged groups.
