Purser shares how he noticed mindfulness making its way into schools, offices, the military, and even prisons - but not for the purpose of empowering the members of those organizations. “I do not question the value of adapting mindfulness for therapeutic use, nor do I deny that it can help people," he says, "What bothers me is how its promoters want things both ways: one minute, mindfulness is science, since that’s what sells; the next, it stands for everything in Buddhism, since that’s what makes it sound deep.”
