Associate Professor of Decision Sciences Leyla Ozsen was awarded the Institute for Civic and Community Engagement Call to Service Initiative grant to support the addition of service learning to the Research Project in Business course.
Ozsen's grant proposal was co-written by Professor of Marketing Sungha Jang, focusing on one course partner - the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA).
This grant will support the re-envisioning of BUS 895 - the culminating experience project course for MS in Business Analytics students - to include service learning with an emphasis in advancing community-identified needs and supporting the mission and strategic initiatives around inclusivity, diversity, sustainability and innovation. Students in the course will be given the option to select from a wide variety of project topics in partnership with organizations whose missions are centered around solving environmental or societal issues and those which are founded and led by people of color and/or women.
