MBA student Laurie Smith shares her experiences of working as an intern with PG&E

MBA student Laurie Smith worked as an intern with PG&E this past summer. She notes that her Information Systems coursework played a critical role in helping her to land a position in PG&E’s IT Business Intelligence (BI) department. As a gold sponsor of SF State’s SAP coursework, PG&E takes a vested interest in students who pursue these courses.

Laurie SmithMost relevant was her Business Intelligence/Big Data course (ISYS 850) that includes hands-on experience with SAP data warehousing and reporting. “My familiarity with SAP afforded me the opportunity to work on a lot of interesting projects that I would not have been given otherwise. I was able to apply my coursework knowledge on the job, while learning new BI tools and reporting software along the way. I highly recommend students to familiarize themselves with Big Data/BI tools (e.g. SAP), they’re going to be an invaluable part of any business person’s skill set.”
