Speakers

Chef Tim Shaw, Chef Instructor

Tim Shaw is the Chef Instructor for SFSU's Vista Room, training students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department and preparing them for careers in the Restaurant Industry. He has over 32 years of experience in the food industry, including in restaurants, catering, and private chef experiences. He also assisted with recipe design and testing for Joy of Cooking. He has a master's in food studies from NYU and an MPA in sustainable management. In his spare time he plays the bass guitar with more enthusiasm than expertise, much to the chagrin of his husband and rescue dogs.

Colin Johnson holds a doctorate in economic and social sciences from Fribourg University, Switzerland. He also has an MBA from Manchester Business School and BA from Open University in the UK. He has worked in many sectors of the hospitality industry and held faculty and management positions in seven colleges throughout the UK, Switzerland, and US. Colin has published in a number of leading hospitality and tourism journals.
