Position Description: 

The Expanding Student Opportunity (¡ESO!) Adelante Project is a partnership between Cañada College and SF State to support the transition and success of community college and newly-admitted transfer students at SF State. This collaboration is funded through the US Department of Education’s Hispanic Serving Institutions Program and we are committed to providing Latinx and other underserved student communities the guidance and tools for success at the university. The Adelante Project at SF State is devoted to developing an empowering and supportive transfer community at SF State consisting of students, faculty and staff.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • 30%: Mentoring and providing guidance to prospective transfer students and/or first-semester transfer students at SF State. Including in-class participation/facilitation in HIST 451/AU 303 course in Fall 2019
  • 25%: Assisting the Project Manager with designing creative activities, resources, and tools to facilitate transfer students’ transition to SF State
  • 20%: Coordinating transfer events, outreach, and engagement activities at Cañada College and SF State
  • 10%: Improving project’s visibility at both Cañada College and SF State
  • 10%: Day-to-day general administrative duties including email correspondence with prospective students, updating social media accounts, and basic data entry
  • 5%: Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: 
  • Completed at least one semester of study at San Francisco State University
  • 3.0 SF State Cumulative GPA
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledgeable in university procedures, programs, and resources
  • Bias toward team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Transfer student from a California Community College or University
  • Previous mentorship experience
  • Knowledgeable in marketing, social media, and design programs like Canva
  • Majoring in Business (any concentration) or Child and Adolescent Development (any concentration)
  • Available from 7-10pm on Thursday evenings
