Position Description: 

The Project Accountant position will assist principals and project managers with project set up, invoicing, maintaining budgets, and cash collection. This person will also review vendor and consultant invoices for AP processing, bank reconciliations, and assist in human resource benefits.

Position Responsibilities: 

Project Management Accounting:

• Assist principals and project managers with setup, updating and maintaining budgets, contract types within the project accounting system.

• Produce invoices and project management financial reports.

• Review contracts to set up project budget in the project accounting system.

• Monitors and maintains financial job files for completeness.

Accounts Payable Accounting:

• Review vendor and consultant invoices for processing.

• Obtain invoice approvals and enter A/P invoices into the system.

• Review and process employee expense reports.

• Process vendor and consultant payment bi-monthly.

• Reconciliation of vendor accounts.

• Review G/L accounts monthly for correctness.

• Process year-end 1099 forms.

• Filing.

General Accounting:

• Perform monthly bank account reconciliations.

• Reconciliation and processing of debit/credit card expenses.

• Process requests for client project certificates of insurance with insurance broker.

• Assist with timesheet processing and payroll as necessary.

• Other duties as assigned by accounting manager.

Human Resource:

• Participate in health benefit open enrollment and work with payroll to ensure accuracy.

• Human resource/health benefits assistance to employees including new hire orientation.

• Maintain personnel files.

Required Qualifications: 

• Minimum of AA degree in accounting, bachelors degree preferred.
• 1+ years experience working within an architectural/engineering firm preferred, but not necessary.
• Experience working with an A/E project accounting software - Deltek Vision preferred.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Some web-based payroll processing experience - ADP preferred but not mandatory.
• Detail-Oriented, have a consistent focus on accuracy, and able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced work environment.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be responsive to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Proven ability to work independently and contribute to the team's success.

Preferred qualifications

• 1+ years experience working within an architectural/engineering firm preferred, but not necessary.
• Experience working with an A/E project accounting software - Deltek Vision preferred.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook.
