Professor and Chair of Labor and Employment Studies John Logan discussed protests by non-union Amazon workers seeking fair protections in the workplace.
Amazon warehouse workers staged more than a dozen protests nationwide during the company's annual Prime Day to advocate for adequate and consistent worker protections during COVID-19. Logan credits protests in the early months of the pandemic for pushing the company to implement initial coronavirus protections for workers. "Since Amazon workers are non-union, the protests offer an avenue to put pressure on the company amid increased dangers posed by the coronavirus," said Logan.
