Position Description: 

The Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ) is seeking applicants for a part-time Accounting Assistant to assist in various facets of the agency’s fiscal operations. Applicants should have an interest in finance and/or accounting, with a desire to use those skills to impact our agency’s overall mission of criminal justice reform. CJCJ is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce society’s reliance on incarceration as a solution to social problems. This is a part-time position up to 24 hours/week, with a flexible schedule and great opportunities for free on-the-job training. The hourly rate will range from $16 to $18, with comprehensive benefits. CJCJ offers a casual work environment and a great team of committed professionals. This position reports to the agency’s Deputy Director.

Position Responsibilities: 

Support payroll operations by processing timesheets, vacation accruals, and sick accruals Conduct and process company bank deposits Develop monthly invoices (accounts receivables) in accordance with on-site training Process and pay bills (accounts payables) using QuickBooks online, in accordance with on-site training Develop and maintain vendor relationships, and troubleshoot billing problems as needed Conduct a monthly inventory and order supplies as needed Reconcile company credit card receipts and maintain related documentation Support in the review and tracking of programmatic and contracted budget allowances Assist with annual agency audits and city audits
