Position Description: 

Staff Accountant completes monthly analysis spreadsheet including labor reports, costs and expenses analysis, and sales journals. Staff Accountant also prepares general entries and partial invoice process

Position Responsibilities: 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Prepare sales and expense data for journal entries. Update large expenditure transactions for fixed asset entries. Prepare other Accounts Payable related expense analysis. Perform general journal entries. * 

b. Update monthly employees’ vacation and sick accrued benefits. Prepare payroll labor costs analysis and other schedules for audits and tax filings related to payroll. *

c. Process some vendor check payments and scan payment backups to software storage. *

d. Learn other tasks from other positions to be the backup person during other position’s absence.

TASKS

a. At the beginning of the month, prepare income journal data for journal entry. 

b. As payroll process is completed, obtain employees’ benefit accrued information and update to the individual accrued worksheet. 

c. Prepare for labor costs and graph analysis in pivot tables with payroll information provided. 

d. Prepare accrued journal entries for 401 K, vacation, and sick benefits into GL. 

e. Prepare journal entries for hotel and restaurant inventories.

f. Send out check payments and scan invoice backups.

g. Update large transactions into fixed asset software. 

h. Maintain other payroll schedules for audits and year-end tax filings.

i. Prepare utility expense schedules for all properties.

j. Cover other accounting staff for their vacation time off. 

k. Other related tasks upon request.

l. Comply with company and departmental safety rules and procedures.

Required Qualifications: 

a. Applicant should at least have one year of general accounting and bookkeeping backgrounds. Must be familiar with GAAP. 

b. Applicant should know 10-key by touch.

c. Applicant should be proficient in Excel spreadsheet, particularly familiar with pivot table set up, and Microsoft Word skills. 

d. Applicant should have excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and must be detail oriented.

e. Applicant must have the ability to multi-task.

f. Applicant must be open to change and willing to learn new skills.

g. Applicant must have the ability to meet deadlines.

h. Applicant must have strong data entry skills.

i. Applicant must have the ability to tabulate statistical data and compile necessary reports.

Preferred Qualifications: 

a. Applicant should at least have one year of general accounting and bookkeeping backgrounds. Must be familiar with GAAP. 

b. Applicant should know 10-key by touch.

c. Applicant should be proficient in Excel spreadsheet, particularly familiar with pivot table set up, and Microsoft Word skills.
