Position Description: 

Leap Solutions Group is partnering with Platinum Advisors in their search for a highly motivated self-starter for a part-time (20 hours), paid ($16/per hour) internship. Ideally, this internship would help supplement ongoing undergraduate studies in political science, government, or law. It will be a hands-on experience to learn, shadow, and gain practical experience tailored to the intern’s interests and university course experience. 

Our hope is to assist college students interested in pursuing careers in public relations, politics, or government relations with the ability of hiring to a full-time, entry level position as a Legislative Assistant. Interns will be given opportunities to develop their communications skills, understand the concepts from their classes and past work experience, and improve their professional and political literacy. This is a unique experience focused not only around administrative tasks, as you will be asked to contribute from the beginning of the internship!

Platinum Advisors is a full-service government relations firm that includes registered lobbyists with experience lobbying the U.S. Congress, special interest groups in Washington, D.C., the California Capitol, the Governor’s Office, the private sector, non-profit organizations, and local governments. We provide our clients with complete services needed to advocate their positions from direct lobbying of legislators, supporting businesses in entitlement and permitting processes, developing grassroots campaigns, to assisting non-profits with the political landscape.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Tracking propositions, polling results, candidates, campaigns for upcoming elections, and any other legislative tracking needs.
  • Assisting in the coordination of political events, special projects, meeting logistics, and the drafting of official correspondence.
  • Following media outlets and drafting memos with relevant information. 
  • Serving as a support to the President and Account Manager in the office. 
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Demonstrable analytical abilities and strong attention to detail;
  • Strong political insight and experience with contemporary political issues;
  • Ability to collaborate and influence others in a close co-working professional environment;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oratory communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate program plans, proposals, and research;
  • Experience in political campaigning, government relations, or public relations for a total of at least one year.
