A word from the Dean, Linda Oubré
Welcome to SF State's College of Business, the most innovative business school in the Bay Area.
At SF state, we train the leaders who drive regional and global innovation. Our outstanding faculty are thought leaders with degrees from the top business schools in the world who engage with local, national, and international organizations to bring the "real world" into the classroom.

With over 55% of our MBA students being women, we train more women graduate business students than any other business school in the Bay Area. And, because of our large proportions of international and domestic students of color, we train the future leaders who reflect the excitement, depth, and cultural diversity of the region and the world.
At SF State, we believe that business can be managed in a sustainable and ethical manner. Our MBA in Sustainability is the most comprehensive program in the San Francisco Bay Area exposing students to good business practices and values-based leadership that exposes students to all aspects of sustainable management.
At SF State, the COB boasts alumni in all of the major corporations and public accounting firms in San Francisco; in fact, we are a major feeder school for corporations such as Chevron, Moss Adams, Deloitte, Wells Fargo, Kaiser, and many others.
At SF State, our hospitality graduates are at the top of the industry. Because our hospitality program is housed in the College of Business, we train students for the growing hospitality and travel industries with the general management skills necessary to succeed in this increasingly industry.

About Linda Oubré
Linda Oubré is Dean of the College of Business at San Francisco State University. Prior to her appointment in July 2012, she served as Executive Director of Corporate Relations and Business Development and Chief Diversity Officer for the UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
Additionally, Linda has more than two decades of corporate development and operating experience. Oubre was Co-founder, Director, and President-COO of BriteSmile, Inc., responsible for the launch and on-going management of the world’s first “one-hour teeth whitening spas.” Before the founding of BriteSmile, she served as President of Tri Com Ventures where she specialized in new venture planning and start-ups. Linda was General Manager of new Business Development for the Los Angeles Times, Director of Operations for Walt Disney Publishing, and Manager of Planning for both the Times Mirror Company and Walt Disney’s Consumer Products.
Linda has extensive teaching experience having served as the Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Professor at UC Davis GSM. She has been a visiting instructor in the entrepreneurship program at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a guest instructor at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and taught courses in Leadership and Corporate Strategy at San Diego State University’s College of Business. Linda also served in a post-graduate appointment as Assistant Director of MBA Admissions at the Harvard Business School.
A native of Los Angeles, and a first-generation college graduate, Linda earned her BA, cum laude, in Economics from UCLA in 1980, and her MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1984.
Executive Director, Business Development and Marketing
I joined the staff here at SFSU College of Business Graduate Programs because I saw it as a great opportunity to create value-based linkages between the corporate community and the world of academia.
As I interact with businesses I hear time and time again that they really would like to understand how to better partner with higher education. Whether it is through consulting projects, knowledge-based information gathering and articulation, customized internships or executive education, they want it. And they want it now. What does this mean for our students? That’s easy. It ensures them that we will provide the best “real world” education possible. They are engaged in ways that we’ve never offered before and they are prepared to increase opportunities in their current jobs or poised and prepared for that new opportunity when they finish the program.
We’re extremely excited to announce two new Executive Education programs. The Sustainability Boot Camp with SFSU Center for Ethics and Sustainable Business and the Wine Branding and Strategy being lead out of our Marketing Department.
We will continue to be creative and strategic with an entrepreneurial spirit that embodies the Bay Area. As we continue our success, we know that students will want to be a part of this great program and the enrollment numbers will reflect our efforts. As I’ve said to my staff over and over again, “These are exciting times” and I’m proud to be a part of it.
About Orlando Harris
Orlando Harris has over 20 years of business experience in executive consultative sales. In his previous leadership roles at Xerox, Gartner Inc. and American Express, Orlando consistently guided his teams to increased sales growth and productivity. He has successfully worked with numerous branches of business to include but not limited to federal, state and local government, small to mid-tier companies and Fortune 1000 corporations throughout his career.
In his most recent role prior to going the staff at SFSU College of Business Graduate Programs, Orlando was the director of corporate relations at UC Davis Graduate School of Management. He was successful in implementing 10 strategic MBA Consulting Projects with firms like Johnson & Johnson, HP, Agilent Technologies, Chevron Energy Solutions, Wells Fargo, AT&T, VSP, City of Sacramento, Intermatic and First Northern Bank.
As the managing principal at Ascendant Business Consulting, Orlando consulted with leadership individuals and teams in a variety of enterprises to assist them in making solid and sustainable business decisions that improved efficiencies and drove cost out of the business while increasing revenue growth.
Orlando is a graduate of Alabama A&M University, where he majored in Business with minor concentrations in Computer Science and Military Science. Orlando also spent 14 years as a reserve military officer with the United States Army.
