San Francisco has been consistently
acclaimed as one of the top ten visitor destinations in the world. Its
growing hospitality industry is the city's largest employer. At the heart
of this dynamic setting is the Hospitality Management Department at San
Francisco State University. Students enrolled in the expanding Hospitality
Management Program participate in rigorous academic coursework, learn
directly from industry experts, and frequently intern and start careers
at Bay Area hospitality sites.
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality Management
prepares students for management of foodservice, lodging, recreation and/or
resort businesses. A big advantage of the Program is the integration of
all major elements of the hospitality industry while allowing students
to concentrate in one of three areas:
- Hotel Management
- Restaurant and Institutional Foodservice Management
- Commercial Recreation and Resort Management
The interdisciplinary program provides an academically sound business foundation with core hospitality management courses and specialized classes in each concentration. This curriculum prepares highly professional and marketable specialists to manage complex and diverse hospitality organizations. The Department of Hospitality Management is located in the College of Business, and students receive general advising in the Department. Advisement in a student's specialization area is provided by one of the three concentrations.
