Sugar Bowl Bakery, established in 1984, is one of Northern California's largest family-owned and operated retail/wholesale bakeries. They service hotels, cafes, national warehouse clubs, major supermarket chains, retailers, restaurants, casinos, hospitals, and other foodservice institutions. The Li family was the first partner of the Family Enterprise Center and they continue to be our strongest supporter. Andrew Li, CEO and SFSU graduate, and his daughter Laura worked closely with Dr. Dennis Jaffe to develop a case study of Sugar Bowl Bakery which will soon appear in Family Business Magazine.

We owe a great debt to Bob Garrett and Union Bank as one of our original founding partners. During the initial start-up of the Center, Bob, with his infectuous optimistic attitude, provided much-needed motivation and moral support, as well as sound strategic direction and advice. Mary Huss and James McGregor of the San Francisco Business Times were strong supporters of family business prior to the founding of the SFSU Family Enterprise Center, and materially instrumental in the initial founding of the center.
