Partners of the Family Enterprise Center

Our partners make several important contributions to the success of our Family Enterprise Center. In addition to their financial support, our partners actively serve on committees, contribute significant time, provide valuable input on the planning of programs, recruit new members, and serve on the Center's Board of Advisors..

We ask that you applaud and support our partners for their valuable support.

Sugar Bowl Bakery, established in 1984, is one of Northern California's largest family-owned and operated retail/wholesale bakeries. They service hotels, cafes, national warehouse clubs, major supermarket chains, retailers, restaurants, casinos, hospitals, and other foodservice institutions. The Li family was the first partner of the Family Enterprise Center and they continue to be our strongest supporter. Andrew Li, CEO and SFSU graduate, and his daughter Laura worked closely with Dr. Dennis Jaffe to develop a case study of Sugar Bowl Bakery which will soon appear in Family Business Magazine.

Previous Partners

We owe a debt of gratitude to our previous partners. Without their help and support, the SFSU Family Enterprise Center would not launched with the success and impact we have experienced.

We owe a great debt to Bob Garrett and Union Bank as one of our original founding partners. During the initial start-up of the Center, Bob, with his infectuous optimistic attitude, provided much-needed motivation and moral support, as well as sound strategic direction and advice. Union Bank of California is the third largest commercial bank in California and one of the 35 largest banks in the United States. It is an acknowledged leader in business banking with expertise in small business, middle market, and large corporate lending, cash management services, trust and investment management services, private banking, and real estate finance.
Mary Huss and James McGregor of the San Francisco Business Times were strong supporters of family business prior to the founding of the SFSU Family Enterprise Center, and materially instrumental in the initial founding of the center. We will forever be indebted to these bright and supportive visionaries. The San Francisco Business Times is the Bay Area's premiere source for local business news. Published every Friday, the San Francisco Business Times breaks local business news, produces fifteen industry leading events annually and publishes the ever popular Book of Lists.
