Undergraduate Students : Graduation Application Procedures

Spring 2012

The deadline to submit your application to the College of Business is Mon., Feb. 13, 2012.

The University deadline is Friday, February 17, 2012, however since we gather the necessary signatures for you, please turn your application by Monday, February 13, so we can gather signatures and turn it in on your behalf by the University's deadline.

To file the application for award of the baccalaureate degree

Download and print out the Application for Baccalaureate Degree, including all other attachments. Using the additional information below, complete the application, including all other attachments. Be sure to type or print clearly.

Date of graduation

If you are applying for spring 2012 graduation, then your date of graduation is May 2012.

Degree objective

Business majors

You are applying for a BS in Business Administration with a specific emphasis, e.g., accounting, finance, or marketing.

HTM majors

You are applying for a BS in Hospitality & Tourism Mgmt. Do not list an emphasis.

Approved major program to accompany baccalaureate degree application

On this page, your major program includes all courses that reside in the business major. Include work in progress. Do not include business prerequisite courses on this page.

Business majors

There are 13 core courses followed by seven concentration courses. Be sure to list them in this order.

HTM majors

There are 18 core courses followed by three emphasis courses. Be sure to list them in this order.

Equivalent courses

If you have taken an equivalent business course from another institution, list that particular school’s Department and ID # for the course. For example, if you completed MATH 80 at CCSF in lieu of taking DS 212 at SF State, enter MATH 80 on your application rather than DS 212.

If you list a course on your application that was previously signed-off on a Course Substitution Form (“pink sheet”), include a copy of the form with your graduation application.

All courses that appear as equivalents on your DARS do not need to be included on your course substitution form.

Approved minor program to accompany baccalaureate degree application

If you do not have a minor, you do not submit this page.

If you are an HTM major and you are also applying for a general business administration minor, have this approved minor program page signed by an advisor in BUS 112.

Courses in the business minor are ACCT 100, ACCT 101, DS 212, ISYS 263, MGMT 405, MKTG 431, IBUS 330 and FIN 350.

If you took any of these courses at another institution, be sure to list that particular school’s Department and ID number for the equivalent course.

Application fee

The fee to apply for graduation is $100.

Please pay this fee at the Bursar's Office before submitting your application to us.

The Bursar's Office is located in ADM 155.
Business hours are:

  • Mon.–Thurs.: 8:30 a.m.-noon, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:30 a.m.-noon, 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Signature

Do not forget to sign your application.

Where do I turn in my application?

ACCT, FIN, IBUS, and MKTG

Bring your completed application and fee receipt to the department office in SCI 300.

DS, ISYS and MGMT

Bring your completed application and fee receipt to the department office in BUS 308.

HTM

Bring your completed application and fee receipt to the department office in BUS 306.

Application review

The department office gathers the advisor and chair signatures for you, and submits to Degree Evaluations.

Spring 2012 graduation applications are reviewed (approved or denied) by Degree Evaluations. Once grades for spring 2012 are posted, Degree Evaluations performs a final evaluation of your application. Upon approval, the degree is awarded within a few weeks after grades are posted. Students can check the status of their application by calling (415) 338-1634.

Commencement

Students who apply for and are awarded a degree for spring 2012 are eligible to attend the spring 2012 ceremony. The 2012 Commencement is held on Saturday, May 19. For information about the annual commencement visit http://www.sfsu.edu/commencement/
