The Donald S. Freeman Jr. ACOM Conference Scholarship
Supporting Continued Excellence in Convention Services http://acomonline.org/DFscholarship.html

Applications due November 14!

In an effort to support students studying in the hospitality management field, ACOM hosts an annual scholarship program wherein a student is selected to attend the Annual Conference to help contribute to on-site meeting management tasks and to gain exposure to meetings industry education and networking.

This scholarship experience will give students an opportunity to see first-hand the inner-workings of a conference, including meeting planner and venue interactions, room set ups, AV, registration procedures, pre-convention meetings and more. The student will have a unique opportunity to interact and network with meeting professionals. Additionally, this will look great on a resume, to show first-hand experience with onsite management of a professional conference.

-Opportunity to sit in on sessions lead by meeting industry experts
-Networking opportunities with those starting out in the field (just like you!): 1.  Find out how they got their start. 2. Ask what steps they took to get in their current position
-Attendees will have an open forum to discuss current trends within the hospitality industry
-Mentoring by scholarship sponsor, Freeman, before, during and after the Conference
-Chance to speak one-on-one with seasoned professionals and build contacts
-Participation in a professional industry event is a great resume builder, as is being the recipient of this great recognition!

Applications are now being accepted for the January 2010 Conference Scholarship. Download the Scholarship Application and submit it with supporting documents by the November 14 deadline.  An application is available on the following website: http://acomonline.org/DFscholarship.html
