Norma Carr-Ruffino

Norma Carr-Ruffino, professor of management, has been teaching at San Francisco State University since 1973. Currently she teaches Managing in a Diverse Workplace and Creativity & Innovation. She developed the diversity and innovation courses, as well as a course she formerly taught, Leadership Skills for Women. She is the author of textbooks used in these courses at SF State and other universities: Managing Diversity (used in 40 colleges and universities), Leading Innovation, and Leadership Skills for Women. Her other books include Business Students Guide, The Promotable Woman, The Innovative Woman, Diversity Success Strategies, and Making Diversity Work. The Promotable Woman is available in Spanish and Cantonese as well as English.

Professor Carr-Ruffino serves on the editorial board of Gender in Management: An International Journal and as a fee referee for the California State Bar Court.  She has served as a business consultant with such organizations as Safeway International, Brass Ring, Hearst News Media & Technology, National Seminars, Bechtel Power, Pearson Educacion, International Association of Administrative Professionals, Texas Business Education Association, University of Colorado, University of South Carolina, U.S.-China Institute, Moscow State University, Nevada Small Business Institute, Chatham College for Women, Private Networks, Center for Organizational Effectiveness, and Deere & Company

Her expertise has been featured on television and radio talk shows, including Bay Area Channels 4, 7, 9, 48; numerous radio shows throughout the United States; TV in San Jose, Costa Rica (Mishelle Mitchell News, Channel 7); and radio in Mexico City including EsMas, Grupo Acir, Sobre Mesa, Radio Formula, En Voz Alta, Descubre tu Mente, Radio Centro, and Megatendencias.

Her research interests include creativity and innovation in business in the United  States and other nations, cultural diversity in a global marketplace, issues and progress of women leaders in a global marketplace.
