San Francisco State University’s College of Business is pleased to welcome Professor Mark Starik as a visiting faculty member for the Fall 2011 semester.
Professor Starik is the former chair of George Washington University’s department of strategic management and public policy, as well as the director of the George Washington Institute for Corporate Responsibility’s environmental sustainability program.
Professor Starik holds a Ph.D. in strategic management from the University of Georgia, and specializes in strategic environmental management, energy and climate change policy, stakeholder management, non-profit management, and environmental entrepreneurship. He has acted as a sustainability consultant for businesses, governments, and non-profits, and is co-founder of the Academy of Management Organizations & the Natural Environment (ONE) division, as well as George Washington University’s Net Impact chapter faculty advisor.
Professor Starik has published numerous books and articles, including Organizations and the Sustainability Mosaic: Crafting Long Term Ecological and Societal Solutions (with S. Sharma & B. Husted), 2007.
Professor Starik brings his wealth of knowledge in strategy, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility to SF State, teaching two management classes this fall: BUS 690—Seminar in Business Policy and Strategic Management, and MGMT 856—Managing the Sustainable Business.
