On Tuesday, October 11, Kevin Danaher, co-founder of Global Exchange, Fair Trade USA, and the Green Festival, spoke to graduate business students at the SF State Downtown Campus about potential careers in the emerging green economy.
Kevin forecasted tremendous growth in the sectors of renewable energy, local organic agriculture, conservation biology, urban planning, materials recycling, and green entrepreneurship, among many others.
He also discussed his book, Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grassroots, which presents several stories of businesses that have made a business case for sustainability by both being socially responsible and profitable at the same time.
Students found Kevin to be inspiring with comments ranging from "it really made an impact" to "it really spoke to me."
The San Francisco Green Festival, held this Nov. 12–13, is organized annually by Kevin and his team. It provides a venue for eco-entrepreneurs to network and display their products and services, and where consumers interested in social and environmental issues can find these vendors.
Kevin speaks at universities and community organizations on global economic and environmental issues, and how business leaders can jumpstart the transition from today’s profit-centric business models to the businesses of the future that protect and sustain their environment, employees, and customers.
