News + Events : VITA offers free tax preparation on campus
The SF State VITA program, sponsored by the Accounting student
organization members of Beta Alpha Psi, offers free tax preparation services to individuals with low
incomes who cannot afford the services of a paid
professional tax preparer and to the elderly, those with limited English
proficiency and individuals with disabilities who require assistance in
preparing their tax returns.

Note: US citizenship is NOT required.
To qualify for free tax help, you must meet all three criteria:
- Last year’s income was
less than $45,000 - Filing Status
is not Married Filing Separately - Did not receive rental
income
- Social security card for each
family member - All W-2s, 1099s and 1098T
- Landlord Contact
Information - Bank routing and account numbers for checking or savings
account - Any valid Picture ID
- Previous years tax returns (optional)
VITA Location and Hours:
- Location: SCI 205
- Monday-Friday,
12:30-6 p.m. - Saturday 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a national
program, backed by the IRS, providing free tax help to low-to
moderate-income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
Volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help
prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country.
