Marketing students hit the bull’s-eye with scholarships from Target
News + Events : Marketing students hit the bull’s-eye with scholarships from Target
Four students from Marketing
Professor Ian Sinapuelas’ Retail
Management class each received a $1,000 scholarship from Target Store’s communications
case study competition at a presentation held in the College of Business on Dec. 10, 2008.
Target’s case studies are designed
to expose students to actual challenges faced by retailers today, and to
encourage students to incorporate a full semester’s worth of learning into
their proposed strategies. This year’s case study was on capturing the growing
pharmacy market and the students were asked to present a strategic
differentiation plan that would help Target drive a sustainable competitive
advantage in pharmacy.

Cory, Taylor, Linda and
Gabrielle impressed the judges with their creativity and originality.
The student’s efforts were judged
on the creativity and originality of ideas. Linda Lee, Gabrielle Provost,
Taylor Weise, and Cory Woo’s winning proposal included such down to earth ideas
as floor decals, a fun fact card, and bilingual brochures. The panel judges were
very impressed with the simple and doable ideas presented by the students.
The judge’s panel overall was very
impressed with every one of the presenters and their great ideas. The students
were congratulated on presentations that included clear details, excellent fact
findings, and such great ideas that perhaps they would take some of them to
corporate for further consideration!
The college congratulates each student on a job well done!
