WIL (Women in Logistics) of Northern California, a
nonprofit professional organization, has awarded competitive scholarships to
two College of Business students. Just six scholarships in total were awarded to
students from Bay Area universities.
Xuejiao (Danielle) Dutton, an MSBA candidate with
an emphasis in International Business, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship. Sandra
Laudoniu, an undergraduate with a concentration in International Business, was
awarded a $1000 scholarship.
Danielle is from China and prior to coming to San
Francisco, she worked in firms such as the China National Electronics Import
& Export Corporation, the Sharp Office Equipment (Changhsu) Company, and
the Beijing Clean & Healthy Water Investment Company. There she saw that
the procurement of resources and raw materials, and the management of
communication and collaboration with suppliers are some of the more complex
issues facing multinational firms.
interested in supply chains as it often corresponds to how businesses
communicate with each other on either a department level or a
company-to-company level. She plans to work in the private sector with firms
whose core competencies are trade between the U.S. and China.
Sandra was born
and raised in Romania, speaking Romanian with her mother and speaking German with her
father. She began English and French language instruction in the second grade. She
has also picked up basic Spanish, which she hopes to improve and is planning to
begin Mandarin lessons this winter.
In her first year at SF State, Sandra was on the
Dean’s list for both semesters. She plans to either work with a large
international company in logistics, dealing with various international
products, or just doing business in different parts of the world, putting her
language skills to use.
Many thanks to Assistant Professor Susan Cholette
of Decision Sciences for making the College aware of this opportunity for
