GÃ¼lnur Tumbat, assistant professor of marketing, is heading to
Alaska to climb McKinley in June 2007.
She conducted her dissertation research
at Everest base camp in 2004 where she studied risk marketing and risk
She has been presenting her research in leading marketing
conferences. Mt. McKinley will be her next research venue and this time rather than
being an observer, she will attempt to climb it as a customer in order to gain
insights as to the risk negotiation processes between customers and service
She received a Provost Mini-Grant award for this research proposal
in December 2006, and is sponsored by outdoor gear companies such as Cloudveil,
Julbo, Eagle Creek, and Pacific Outdoors.
