Beta Alpha Psi Student Organization Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program – Biggest Tax Season Ever<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
With just US$800 in funding, the San Francisco State Beta Alpha Psi accounting student organization has once again surpassed its goals. This volunteer tax assistance program trains student volunteers to assist low-income individuals complete and file their tax returns.

Some of this year’s highlights:

839 tax returns filed (40% increase from last year) -
Almost 97% of the tax returns were filed electronically and the acceptance rate was 94.43%, both increases from last year -
220 volunteers trained (37% increase from last year) -
$602,587 in federal returns and $74,614 in California refund filed for clients, along with $221,406 in Earned Income Credits
