Angel Leng Chao
Angel has been an exceptionally active and effective leader in
different Hospitality Management student organizations, including Hospitality
Management Society (HMS) and the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality
(NSMH). She actively promotes and encourages students to celebrate and value
diversity, coordinating many educational events with different ethnically
diverse groups of students. Angel coordinated the Hospitality Management 10th
Annual fundraising event, "Taste of the Bay." As the fundraising
manager, she was a superior leader for nearly 100 HM students in the
implementation of the largest student-run fundraiser. This event contributed to
the total revenue of $40,000 for Hospitality Management student scholarships
and program needs.
Beta Alpha Psi
Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) has been successful over the last year with
recruiting 65 members who must meet stringent grade point average and
participation requirements. Their commitment to the
community and their impressive organizational skills organized 100 volunteers
that prepared almost 600 tax returns for low-income families. Last year the IRS
recognized them with two national awards for their work with the VITA program.
BAP also sponsors ongoing workshops, mock interview sessions, resume critiques
and tutoring programs that contribute significantly to the SF State community. BAP
leadership also participated in the first Cal CPA program talking to high
school students about financial literacy.
The Marketing Association (MA) has provided continuous
opportunities for students on campus and also for alumni. They have boosted
their membership this year with constant tabling, word-of-mouth, social events,
and class presentations. The MA has hosted numerous speakers, company tours,
and the Marketing Career Fair here on campus. MA has worked extremely hard with
and for the students, and is also helping organize the SF American Marketing
Association's Excellence in Marketing Awards ceremony. This ceremony is another
opportunity for students to meet and mingle with professionals and to be
recognized individually. MA is opening up new doors and opportunities everyday
for SF State students.
