Sally Baack, Associate Professor in the Management Department, has been awarded the distinction of "Ascendant Scholar" by the Western Academy of Management.

According to the official notification and awards program statement, "Each year the Western Academy of Management honors scholars who have shown outstanding potential in their early careers through the Ascendant Scholar award... on track to be leaders in their respective fields..."

This appears to be a first for San Francisco State University. Past awardees have typically come from USC, Stanford, UCLA, Irvine, a variety of international universities, and others. In fact, this year Sally Baack was the only U.S. scholar selected—the others came from two Canadian universities and Cambridge University in England. ;>
