I am pleased that faculty in the IBUS department contribute so diligently to international education.
Even though academic year 2009-2010 has been a difficult one for both students and faculty because of the budget problem, the International Business department (IBUS) still has good news to share.
The Princeton Review reported that the International Business Department “…draws its share of praises, and students find the IBUS department faculty to be extremely engaged and willing to spend time discussing a multitude of topics outside of class,”—The Best 301 Business Schools, The Princeton Review, 2010 edition, p. 377. The publication also stated that the college provides “solid preparation in doing business in a global economy.”
To strengthen the connection with the business community, the department added four new members to its advisory board. They are Dr. Jack Godwin, Mr. James O. Gollub, Mr. Nobuyki Nakajima, and Ms. Yoshimi Nakajima.
The first overseas internship was established in 2009 by the Board and Shikoku Chemicals Corporation in Japan. Mr. Steven Lim is our first intern, and you will find his story on page 3 of spring 2010 IBUS newsletter.
It is encouraging to know that IBUS students and faculty have continued to put forth their best efforts despite these challenging economic times. They make me feel proud to serve as chair of the Department of International Business.
