Justine Cheshareck, a senior accounting student, will be honored as the 2010 Delta Sigma Pi scholarship key recipient for SF State, given annually to the graduating student with the highest cumulative academic average toward a business degree in administration or economics.
"I was very happy to hear I’d gotten the award because I’ve worked really hard and it’s nice to be recognized for that,†Justine said.
Justine, a native of Rodeo, Calif., transferred to SF State from Diablo Valley College, and said she chose accounting because of her detail-oriented personality. “I kind of tend to be a perfectionist,†she said.
Indeed, during her time at SF State, Justine has been a perfectionist. She currently boasts a 4.0 grade point average, the highest GPA in the College of Business, despite working to put herself through school and a daily two-hour commute to her home in Rodeo.
At SF State, Justine has been a member of the Accounting Students Organization and Beta Alpha Psi. She completed internships at accounting firms Grant Thornton and Lautze and Lautze. She has accepted an offer to join Grant Thornton starting in the fall with the future goal of becoming a certified public accountant.
Justine will officially receive the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key at the College of Business Honors Recogntion reception on May 20.
