Skills & Abilities:

Requirements: Interns must be currently enrolled in a college or university (preferably in a marketing, communications, journalism, hospitality or public relations program) or be a recent college graduate.

Candidates must have a professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP Style, Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop is a major plus!


PIER 39 is seeking an intern to assist the Marketing Department staff with various projects related to advertising, public relations, social media, tourism development, special events and promotions. The internship offers hands-on experience to get started in a marketing-related career, to develop new skills, to hone existing skills and to build your portfolio. 

Interns must commit to a minimum internship term of twelve weeks. 20-24 hours per week required, Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible and will be mutually agreed upon. Additional weekend hours will be required to assist with events/promotional activities. Required weekends include September 29, October 26,27 and November 23, 24.


This is a paid internship at a rate of $12 per/hour.

Personal Computer, printer, photocopier, fax machine, telephone, postage machine, calculator (10-key).

Physical Requirements/Physical Activities

Sedentary Work - Position involves sitting most of the time. Standing and walking are required occasionally. Position requires ability to exert minimal force up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally and minimal force to carry, lift, push, pull, and otherwise move objects frequently.
