  • Actively recruit new applicants using a variety of means
  • Interview job applicants; review application/resume; evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications
  • Maintain records of involvement with the Arbitrage Magazine. If needed confirm the involvement with outside recruiters
  • Process payroll
  • Maintain the database of job descriptions
  • Recommend and maintain association’s structure and staffing levels
  • Other duties as assigned


By the time you leave the ARB, you'll have gained the following transferable skills that you can use in many other employment settings.

Specifically, you'll learn how to:

  • Recruit a large number of new volunteers and/or employees in novel ways
  • Conduct interviews in an effective manner and how to process a new hire from application to orientation
  • Partner with external recruitment partners and deal with a variety of requests from the public
  • More effectively manage one's time and workload
  • Learn how to effectively work in a virtual environment (i.e. the future of work)


All ARB staff members will receive a reference letter after four months of successful service to the publication. You will be able to use the founder as a personal reference after eight months of successful service.

  • Be provided with a large orientation package and training process that will provide you with the tools to grow professionally.
  • You'll be a part of a (really big) team that's doing great work!


Those who excel in their roles and show an interest for increased responsibilities will have the opportunity to grow within the ARB (when opportunities become available) to assume the following positions: assistant HR director, and HR director.

Job Title: HR Staffing Coordinator

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Start date: Immediately

End date: TBD, depends on your school schedule

Compensation: volunteer, freelance

Hours: 3-5 hours per week depending on projects assigned their due dates


As a HR Staffing Coordinator, your position would mostly entail the recruitment of the candidates for vacant positions, as well as conducting interviews with the applicants for the vacant positions.

Also, you will be expected to maintain communication with all the external applicants. Additional responsibilities are but not limited to: maintaining the HR database for applicants and current volunteers, and providing support and coordination of the organization's HR functions.
