Date posted: 08/17/12
Employer Name: Throng Inc.
Duration: School Year
Deadline: n/a
Field: Entrepreneurial/Start-Ups
Who should apply? Undergraduate Students Only

Creating and organizing events to promote the use of Throng, a social/local/mobile phone app, on the SFSU campus.

Skills & Abilities:

We are looking for outgoing, creative, organized, and entrepreneurial students. A sense of fun and a knowledge of (and engagement with) campus life is also important.

  • Are you a college student who is working toward a career in Marketing, Business Development, Events, or Sales?
  • Are you a creative thinker?
  • Is your iPhone or Android a constant companion?
  • Do you use Twitter, Facebook, and social/local apps like Foursquare?
  • Do you live on or very near campus, and are you involved in campus life?
  • Are you a fun, outgoing person who enjoys getting in front of a crowd?
  • Do you want to promote a powerful free app that can help your fellow students to find new friends, get notes for the class they missed last week, or get a ride home at Thanksgiving?

Then we want to talk to you about making Throng a part of student life at your campus.

What you’ll do

You'll work closely with the Throng marketing team to develop a marketing strategy and plan to promote Throng on your campus and increase the number of students using it on a daily basis.

You will plan and run events, contests, challenges and games, plus (we hope) some things we haven't thought of yet, and help change campus life as you know it.

You'll be in constant touch with the rest of the marketing team and other interns. We'll expect you to allocate up to twelve hours per week to these activities and report your weekly progress. On some campuses, you may also be able to earn academic credit.

What we’ll do

We'll work closely with you to help you to be successful with ideas and execution, and provide support as needed.

What's in it for you?

  • Work with an experienced Silicon Valley team
  • Play a role in redefining mobile
  • Get relevant experience to put on a resume
  • Expand your social and professional network
  • Not income—this is an unpaid internship
