Environmental Sustainability in the Hospitality Industry

The Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) at San Francisco State University is pleased to announce their 15th Annual Hospitality Management Symposiu

The event will be held on the SF State campus in the Nob Hill Room, Seven Hills Conference Center, on Wednesday, March 11, 2009.

Welcome to the HM Symposium

HTM studentsMorning sessions include the Industry Professionals' Roundtable “Employment in Year 2009” from 9 to 10:15 a.m., and “Environmental Sustainability in the Foodservice Industry” with Jeff Freburg of Google, from 10:20 to 11:30 a.m. The luncheon keynote session “Strategies for Environmental Sustainability in the Hotel Industry” will be presented by Chip Conley, Founder and CEO, Joie de Vivre Hospitality, from noon to 2:00 p.m. Download the program (pdf).

Purpose

The purpose of the Hospitality Management Symposium and Career Fair is for the HTM students to interact and learn from the hospitality industry representatives. The HM Symposium is also open to the public.

Registration fee must be prepaid. Deadline is February 29, 2009. HM Career Fair

HTM StudentsThe Career Fair will be held after the Symposium from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The registration fee is $425 which will cover the costs of the facility, publicity, table (4'x6'), employer signage, parking permit (1), and lunch (2 people) at the keynote session. Each additional lunch will be $20. If you have questions regarding the career fair, please contact the Career Center Employment Services Program at (415) 338-1764 or at recruit@sfsu.edu, and ask for Jack Chau or Mariko Hingston. About the Program

The SF State University Hospitality and Tourism Management Program is the largest four-year hospitality management program in the Bay Area with over 400 students. Approximately 100 students graduate from the program each year. The B.S. in Hospitality Management is housed in the College of Business, and is AACSB accredited. The program prepares students for management positions in lodging, restaurant and resort businesses.
