Message from the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department Chair

As the Chair, I would like to welcome you to the web site of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department at San Francisco State University!

Colin Johnson, Chair, Hospitality and Tourism Management DepartmentThe Hospitality and Tourism Management Program ranks among the best available. The program provides students with the overall breadth of a common core of business courses in accounting, economics, information systems, marketing and management, as well as professional interdisciplinary courses and internship opportunities in hotel management, food service and restaurant management, conventions and event management and other hospitality management areas.

Students enrolled in the expanding Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) program participate in rigorous academic coursework, learn directly from industry experts, and frequently intern and start careers at Bay Area hospitality sites.

To maximize a variety of professional opportunities, students are able to choose from each of the six emphases designed to prepare highly professional and marketable specialists to manage complex and diverse hospitality organizations.

The program provides state-of-the-art food service management facilities studentslocated on the fourth floor of Burk Hall. The Vista Room, restaurant for fine dining, managed and operated by students, is acclaimed for it exquisite cuisine and service. For more information, see the Vista Room.
