The SF State MBA: Rigorous. Real World. Respected.

Hear it directly from our exceptional students.

Pamela CalvertPamela Calvert

MBA Student, Class of 2013

Finance Manager, Consultative Group on Biological Diversity

I was laid off from my non-profit management job three days before Christmas 2010, a bad time of year in a bad economy. I immediately hit the street with job applications, bearing in mind it would probably be mid-January before I had any kind of response.

To my surprise, I began receiving requests for interviews almost immediately. I was offered two jobs by the end of January, and had to turn away interviews for two more openings. My new position came with a salary and benefits package 64% higher than that provided by my previous employer.

I attribute this unexpected wealth of opportunities to the business credentials I bring from the MBA program at SF State. Even though I had just finished my first semester in the program, potential employers clearly recognized the value I could bring to their organizations as I advanced toward candidacy and degree completion. My first year's "raise" at my new job has paid for my entire MBA program.

Thank you, SF State!

Executive MBA, Class of 2009

Associate Director at a biotech start-up company

My SF State Education

For two years I worked full time while securing a master's in business administration at the SF State Downtown Campus through the Executive MBA Program. The program's quality, location and convenience all appealed to me. It was rigorous and economically feasible, but also respected my time as a working professional.

Business is complex and multifaceted. During the program I learned to appreciate teh diversity of businesses across the Bay Area.

Why I support SF State

Earning my MBA while at SF State was a great value. So, even while still a student I made a gift to support the Executive MBA Program. This is probably a bit unusual, but it's a relatively young program. I want to help build it and want it to succeed. I've been a supporter ever since.

Impact of Gift

I want my gifts to strengthen the Executive MBA Program and the ties among its current students and graduates.
